Our IP Infrastructure
Intermedia has always been proud of the network that we have built and developed over the years. Our network runs on a
Gigabit Ethernet fibre backbone which is routed by multiple Cisco Catalyst 6509 multilayer switches, all of which are
equipped with top of the line Supervisor 720-3BXL cards. We own and maintain a 100% Cisco Powered Network to ensure maximum
compatibility between network devices. Our current network has a total Internet bandwidth capacity of 3.3Gbps, all of which
can be deployed at very short notice. We constantly monitor the bandwidth utilisation of our network to ensure that our
network will never be overloaded, and infrastructure upgrades will be implemented when necessary.
We strive to maintain a network uptime of 99.8%, much higher than the Infocomm Development Authority's 97.5% availability
requirement.
In the 12 months from March 2007 to February 2008, our network far exceeded the required
availability of service with a recorded uptime of 100%.
Apart from the major telecommunications companies, Intermedia has the most connected network in Singapore. We currently
have 6 diverse Internet connections and 20 peers. We run the Border Gate Procotol (BGP4), which evaluates all the possible
paths from our providers and peers for the shortest path to any given destination. In addition, we also have our own
intelligent system in place which influences the network to send data using the shortest geographical route.
Our capability to send data over diverse separate submarine cable systems, and to route traffic either over the Pacific
(via Taiwan or Japan) or through Europe (via Middle East and London/Paris) ensures that no natural disaster, no matter how
significant, can ever disable our connectivity.
All our bandwidth is purchased as quality dedicated bandwidth which is neither shared nor oversubscribed.
We are able to provide Internet connectivity through various technologies and media in speeds ranging from 512Kbps to
1Gbps and beyond.
Intermedia's well connected and stable network is also used to provide valuable data to various organisations for
the monitoring of global
Internet connectivity, compiling of statistics and research. Almost every network topology or routing report available
in the world today was
compiled using some data provided in part by Intermedia's network.
Currently, the following organisations and projects utilise data provided by our network.
